Summary

  • Wonderchat answers from your own help center, shows the source on every reply, and offers a person when no page covers a question.

  • A free plan that refills 50 AI replies every month, with no credit card, help desk included, and no per-seat cost.

  • Paid plans run from $39 to $499 a month, plus custom Enterprise pricing, and no plan bills per seat.

  • Pick another tool if you need an agent that processes refunds or changes accounts in your systems.

Wonderchat is the AI customer service agent for small teams with real documentation. It answers from your own help center and docs, shows the source on every reply, tells you what your docs can’t answer, and never surprises you on the bill.

Wonderchat has a free plan that refills 50 AI replies every month, with no credit card, and four paid plans for when you need more.

Older reviews still describe the plans and the usage meter that Wonderchat retired in 2026, so the plan details below carry the check date above.

What Is Wonderchat?

Wonderchat is an AI agent that answers your customers from the content you already have, with a help desk built in. Wonderchat comes as three agents on one engine.

Agent

What it does

AI Customer Service Agent

Answers customers from your help center and docs, shows the source, and offers a person when no page covers the question

AI Sales Agent

Answers buying questions from your pages and captures the visitor’s details for your team

Internal AI Agent

A separate product for your own team, set up with you through sales, that answers questions in Slack or Microsoft Teams from Google Drive or SharePoint

Every plan includes the customer service agent, the sales agent, the help desk, and a shared inbox.

Wonderchat isn’t a chatbot builder where you script every path. Wonderchat also doesn’t take actions in your systems, such as refunds, cancellations, or account changes.

If you already run a help desk, you don’t have to replace it; you can use Wonderchat or keep yours.

Older reviews also miss how Wonderchat answers and what happens when it can’t.

How Does Wonderchat Answer, and What Happens When It Can’t?

Wonderchat answers only from the content you connect and shows the source on every reply. When no page covers a question, it says so, offers a person, and puts the question in a review inbox, where you answer it once.

How Wonderchat answers
How the review inbox turns a missed question into an answer
When a page covers the question, Wonderchat answers from your content, with the source. When no page covers it:
1A customer asksNo page covers the question
2The agent says it can’t find thatand offers a person
3Your team gets the chatwith the full conversation
4The question lands in the review inboxsorted for you to answer
5You answer it oncePaste a URL, pick a file, or write it. Answered from then on

Every miss becomes a question you answer once, and the agent uses that answer from then on.

Every Reply Shows Where the Answer Came From

A visitor asks, the agent searches your connected pages and files, and the reply comes with its source underneath, from a web page or a PDF page. You and your customer can click through and check what the agent read.

In the recording below, the docs cover only part of the question, so the agent answers what they confirm and says what they don’t.

A Wonderchat agent answers a question about moving chat history to a colleague's account, says its documentation doesn't confirm a full transfer, and lists three source links.

Asked something the docs only partly cover, the agent answers what they confirm, says what they don’t, and shows its sources.

A source shows what the agent read, not that the page is still current. The accuracy section further down covers that risk.

When No Page Covers the Question, It Says So

When no page covers a question, the agent says it can’t find that, doesn’t guess, and offers a person. You set the wording of that reply with the Fallback message under Model & Behavior.

The failure customers remember is a confident wrong answer. An honest “I don’t know” with a way to reach your team replaces it.

A Wonderchat agent answers a question about a status page for outage alerts by saying it doesn't have that information, pointing to human support and the support email, and showing a Speak to a live agent button.

Asked something the docs don’t cover, the agent says it doesn’t know and offers the team instead of guessing.

Handing a Chat to a Person, With the Whole Conversation

Wonderchat hands the chat to a person when the visitor asks for one, after a set number of messages, or after repeated failed answers. You turn it on under Handover → Enable Human Handover and set the triggers under Automatic Triggering.

“We write the escalation list before we write the agent’s scope. Refunds in dispute, anything that touches someone’s money, anything where the customer has already told us they are upset. If you do not decide those in advance, you are not deciding them at all.”

Vera Sun, CEO and co-founder of Wonderchat

Wonderchat's handover settings with three triggering conditions outlined and numbered, a direct request for a person, a number of messages, and failed answers in a row.

Three triggers decide when a chat goes to a person.

The chat lands in live chat, where a teammate takes over in real time, or as a ticket with the full conversation attached. When nobody is online, the agent can collect an email so the team can follow up.

Your customer doesn’t repeat the story, and handing a chat to a person is never metered. A person, not the agent, carries out anything like a refund or an account change.

How the Review Inbox Turns a Missed Question Into an Answer

Every question the agent couldn’t answer lands in one review inbox, sorted into user reported, knowledge gaps, quick fixes, conflicts, and model issues. You answer each one once, and the agent uses that answer from then on.

  1. Open Review in the left menu and pick Knowledge gaps or Quick fixes.

  2. Open the question to see how often it came up, and use View source chats to read the conversations behind it.

  3. Under Where does the answer live?, choose Paste a URL, Pick from Files, or Write it myself, then click Continue.

You can also approve a corrected question and answer. The agent then uses it next time for questions with the same meaning.

Wonderchat's Review screen with Knowledge gaps and Quick fixes, a View source chats button, the Paste a URL, Pick from Files, and Write it myself options, and a Continue button, each outlined and numbered.

A missed question waits in Review until you say where the answer lives.

What Changed at Wonderchat in 2026?

In 2026, Wonderchat moved to five plans, four of them with a printed monthly price, and one meter called AI replies.

  • The free plan refills 50 AI replies every month.

  • The help desk, shared inbox, and live chat come with every plan, Free included.

  • Seats aren’t billed on any plan.

  • Channels grow with the plan. Email, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, Discord, and Telegram come with every plan, Slack and WhatsApp start on Starter, and Microsoft Teams and voice chat start on Basic.

If you read an older review or AI answer, here is how its terms map to today’s plans.

How Much Does Wonderchat Cost?

Wonderchat has five plans, Free ($0), Starter ($39), Basic ($150), Scale ($499), and Enterprise (custom pricing), each a monthly list price with no per-seat cost.

Across 1,309 complaints in 837 reviews of 18 support vendors, read by Wonderchat in September 2026, pricing was the biggest theme (211), then setup (197). So each plan below shows what you pay and what you get, in one meter.

What Counts as an AI Reply?

One AI reply is one visitor question plus the agent’s answer to it. Frontier models, on Basic and above, can use more than one AI reply per answer.

For example, a visitor who asks three questions in one chat on a fast model uses three AI replies. Resolutions, meaning solved conversations, are always an estimate, which is why the plans lead with AI replies.

Your AI replies refill every month, and a larger plan raises the allowance.

Once the month’s AI replies are used up, the agent tells the visitor it has reached its limit and offers the handover form, so the question still reaches your team.

What Does Every Plan Include Beyond AI Replies?

Every plan includes the help desk, a shared inbox, and live chat, and no plan bills per seat.

On every plan, Free included, a real person answers every ticket and bug report. Scale adds priority support, and Enterprise adds dedicated support with guided setup.

Is Wonderchat Free?

Yes. Wonderchat has a free plan that refills 50 AI replies every month, with no credit card, the help desk and shared inbox included, live chat included, and no per-seat cost.

It’s a plan, not a trial.

Do You Need a Credit Card for the Free Plan?

No. You sign up without one because Free is a plan, not a trial, and you can try any paid plan free as well.

Who Is the Free Plan For?

Free works for a team with a low monthly question volume, or for anyone testing the agent on real docs before paying. Fifty AI replies are enough to run the three tests in the accuracy section several times.

Which Channels and Tools Does Wonderchat Work With?

Wonderchat answers in website chat, a search bar, email, Slack, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, Telegram, Discord, Microsoft Teams, and voice chat, with the same answer and its source in each. Which channels you get depends on the plan.

Use Wonderchat’s Help Desk, or Keep Yours

Every plan comes with tickets that carry the full chat, a shared inbox, and live chat, where a teammate takes over in real time.

If you’d rather keep your own help desk, ticket sync with Zendesk and Freshdesk starts on Basic with up to 50 tickets, and the cap lifts on Scale. Kustomer connects from Scale, Salesforce on Enterprise, and any other help desk works by email.

Which Integrations Come With Which Plan?

Integrations follow the plan table. For anything not tied to a plan below, the pricing page shows where it starts.

  • Every plan: Zapier

  • From Starter: Calendly and Cal.com booking links

  • From Basic: Zendesk and Freshdesk ticket sync for up to 50 tickets, HubSpot and ActiveCampaign contact sync, Shopify order tracking and product search, and chat event webhooks

  • From Scale: Zendesk and Freshdesk sync with no ticket cap, Kustomer, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Marketo, and Oracle Eloqua

  • On Enterprise: Salesforce, plus Pardot forms

  • Also available: the MCP connector

What Can You Train Wonderchat On?

The AI model is a setting, with models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and DeepSeek, and frontier models from Basic. Whichever model you pick, answers come only from your content.

You also set the role and tone, how precise or creative replies are, preset messages, and a consent checkbox before chatting.

How Accurate Is Wonderchat, and How Do You Check?

Across customers, about 75% of evaluated conversations are resolved without a person. When no page covers a question, the agent says it can’t find that and offers a person.

What Do Wonderchat’s Resolution Numbers Mean?

The 75% figure covers evaluated conversations across Wonderchat’s customers, not one account. Your own rate depends on how well your docs cover what customers ask.

In Wonderchat’s study of 5,848,078 conversations, 58.5% of a random sample of 5,000 unresolved conversations asked for an answer that was never documented anywhere the agent could reach.

One customer shows the upper end. Jortt, a Dutch accounting platform, resolves about 92% of roughly 30,000 monthly inquiries without a person.

Why Do Wonderchat Answers Go Wrong, and How Do You Prevent It?

According to Wonderchat’s support team, the failure seen most often is not invention. It is retrieval pulling an archived policy and answering from it correctly.

So keep retired policies out of the content you connect, or update them. The review inbox also has a separate group for conflicts.

How Do You Test Wonderchat on Your Own Docs?

Run three tests on the free plan, using your own content.

  1. Ask what your docs answer. Add your help center URL and ask the three questions customers ask you most. Check that each reply shows a source and that the source says what the reply says.

  2. Ask what they don’t. Ask one question your docs don’t cover, on purpose. The agent should say it can’t find that and offer a person.

  3. Ask for a person. Check where the chat goes next, to live chat, a ticket, or an email request, and that your team sees the whole conversation.

The three tests use about five of your 50 free AI replies.

Where Is Wonderchat’s Data Hosted, and Is It Secure?

Wonderchat’s security line reads SOC 2 Type II, GDPR, EU-hosted in Frankfurt, and HIPAA BAA available.

The SOC 2 report and DPA come with Enterprise. The agent answers only from the content you connect.

How Do You Set Up Wonderchat?

You set it up in four steps:

  1. Add your website or files.

  2. Test the agent on a preview of your own homepage.

  3. Add the widget to your site and verify it.

  4. Turn on handoff and invite your team.

80% of Wonderchat agents that go live do so the same day (384 of 478 agents measured). Knowledge bases over 500 pages take longer, with a median of 15 days.

Before you start, have your website or help center address ready, and access to your site’s code or tag manager unless it runs on Shopify.

1. Add Your Website or Files

Sign up and paste your website or help center address, then choose the entire site or part of it, or upload files instead. The agent starts reading your content right away.

  • Choose the AI agent on your website as the agent type.

  • Pick where your site is built (WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, Wix, Squarespace, Framer, React, Next.js, or plain HTML) so the install steps match.

  • Free reads up to 100 webpages per agent, Starter 200, Basic 1,000, and Scale 2,000. Later, Data Source → URL is where you add pages or list the ones to skip under Ignore URLs when indexing.

Wonderchat's URL data source with the Root URLs list and the Ignore URLs when indexing box outlined and numbered.

Add your help center as a root URL, and list the pages to leave out.

2. Test the Agent on Your Own Homepage

Before anything goes live, the agent appears on a preview of your own homepage, so you can chat with it as a visitor would. Ask the questions your customers really send, check every source, and answer anything it misses in the review inbox.

3. Add the Widget and Verify It

Follow the install steps for your platform. The Shopify app needs no code, and on WordPress and every other site you paste one snippet where your analytics code goes.

Then click Verify installation, and Wonderchat checks your site and confirms the agent is on it.

4. Turn On Handoff and Invite Your Team

In Get Started, turn on handoff so the chats the agent can’t answer reach your team in the inbox. Then invite your teammates, since seats cost $0 on every plan.

How Does Wonderchat Compare With Fin, Tidio, and Chatbase?

The biggest difference is how each one charges. Wonderchat charges by monthly plan, Fin per outcome, Tidio per AI conversation, and Chatbase by message credits.

Should You Try Wonderchat?

Wonderchat is built for a small team with real documentation that wants answers with sources, a person for the rest, and a printed monthly price. Here is the job it does.

A customer asks something your docs don’t cover, the agent says it can’t find that and offers your team, the chat reaches you with the whole conversation, and you answer the question once in the review inbox.

What it won’t do is process refunds or change accounts, so a person still handles those.

The free plan is the test, because it refills 50 AI replies every month and needs no credit card. Start for free and run the three tests on your own help center, or book a demo if you’d rather see it first.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Wonderchat charge per resolution?

No. Wonderchat plans are measured in AI replies, one visitor question plus the agent’s answer. Each plan includes a monthly allowance that refills every month, seats aren’t billed, and handing a chat to a person is never metered.

Does Wonderchat’s free plan reset every month?

Yes. The free plan refills 50 AI replies every month, with no credit card. If you need more each month, Starter includes 500 AI replies, Basic 3,000, and Scale 9,000. If they run out first, the agent says it has reached its limit and shows the handover form.

Does Wonderchat work with Zendesk?

Yes. Keep Zendesk or use the help desk included on every plan. Zendesk and Freshdesk sync covers up to 50 tickets on Basic and has no cap from Scale, and the agent hands over with the full conversation attached. Any other help desk works by email.

Can Wonderchat answer email?

Yes. Email is a channel on every plan, with one address on Free, and the agent gives the same answer and its source there as in website chat. When nobody is online, the agent can also collect an email address so your team follows up.

Where is Wonderchat’s data hosted?

In the EU, in Frankfurt. Wonderchat’s security line is SOC 2 Type II, GDPR, EU-hosted in Frankfurt, and HIPAA BAA available. The SOC 2 report and DPA come with Enterprise.

Stop answering the same questions. Let your docs do it.
